He told stories; the others liked it when he did. They would listen; make him feel important, part of the unit.

Otherwise he was alone; no one else heard what he did. He'd thought it was part of the training – the whispers in his head that told him things. Gave him orders.

But it wasn't.

PsyOps had poked and prodded and shaken their heads; called him an anomaly.

His blood froze at the word so he learned to hide it. He learned to fit in.

To tell stories.

The others would listen and the whispers would quieten. For a while.
