Was this meant to be some kind of torture? Because the kicking and the beatings were so much more effective in that regard.

He had to admit though; the flickering was about to drive him nuts.

Strapped down, eyes held open with the red light focusing directly onto his retina - not scanning or brainwashing, hell, it wasn't even a laser. Just a blinking red light that flickered enough until it filled the world.

Until all he could see was the light.

When they finally dragged him into the basement he could still see the red light, flickering in the dark.
