He'd never tell her – well, actually, enough whiskey and he might – but he felt like some project of Max's.

Alec had been on more missions than he could easily count and each had meant living out in the world.

But she thought he was like a newborn, blinking in the light of day.

If anything, he was better equipped than she to live out here, even after all her time in the world. But she didn't see him. She saw Ben; she saw her failure. She was trying to fix it and for that, Alec could blink in the light.
